| California's Safely Surrendered Baby Law allows for an infant, 72 hours
old or younger, to be surrendered at any hospital emergency room in
California. The law also gives County Board of Supervisors the authority
to designate additional sites where an infant can be legally
surrendered. The County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors has
designated fire stations as Safe Surrender sites. All County, Los
Angeles City and almost all other non-voluntary municipal fire stations
in the County are designated as Safe Surrender sites.
