The County of Los Angeles has developed various training tools to be used to educate the public about the Safely Surrendered Baby Law.

Safely Surrendered Baby Law Curriculum & Training Materials

A training packet has been developed through the collaborative effort of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the Chief Administrative Office (CAO), the Children’s Planning Council (CPC), the Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect (ICAN), and other community-based organizations to be used by County staff, community-based organizations, and the public to learn more about the law, information on adoption, social and psychological factors of unintended pregnancy and infant abandonment, and other key resources.  The training packet includes camera-ready handouts, a training curriculum and a Power Point presentation.

Safely Surrendered Baby Law Speakers’ Bureau

ICAN, with input and support from its public and private members, the CPC, faith-based organizations and First 5 LA, has established a Speakers’ Bureau to provide speakers who can make presentations to service providers, community groups, and the public about the Safely Surrendered Baby Law and provide information on support programs available for women and families at-risk of abandoning their babies.

To find out more about the Speaker’s Bureau or to request a speaker for your organization, please contact ICAN at (626) 455-4586.
